Jumpstart recruits and trains college student to serve as AmeriCorps members. We are a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. Jumpstart AmeriCorps members provide language, literacy, and social-emotional programming for preschool children from under-resourced communities and promote quality early learning for all children. Join us to work toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed.
All Jumpstart AmeriCorps members receive high quality training to help them implement Jumpstart’s outcome-based program, promote children’s school success and build family engagement. Eligible college students could potentially earn Federal Work-Study, course credit and a $1,311 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award in the process.
Corps members and volunteers enhance the literacy, language, social and emotional development of young children through positive interactions with the children and families they serve.
Corps members spend 10–12 hours each week during the school year inspiring young children to learn, working on a team and building professional skills. All corps members receive professional-caliber training to help implement Jumpstart's outcome-based program, promote children's school success and build family involvement.
Children need advocates in all fields – all majors are welcome.
Jumpstart KC engages numerous enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers of all ages to assist with our community outreach and educational activities each year. From preparing materials for our classrooms to participating in special events to reading with children at local libraries, our volunteers are vital to increasing the program's impact on the Kansas City community.
If you would like to help out but are unable to commit to the 300-hour Corps member position, email Jumpstart KC to be added to our volunteer list.
